Chubby Cattle BBQ, a Los Angeles-based restaurant chain known for all-you-can-eat wagyu beef and high-technology dining, is preparing to open its first Sacramento-area location in Roseville, according to the company’s website and city building records. The restaurant is slated to move into 1905 Taylor Road, the former home of Tahoe Joe’s, a steakhouse that shut down in 2022 after more than two decades in business, leaving the 7,100-square-foot space sitting empty ever since. April Li, CMO of Chubby Group, confirmed to What Now Sacramento that they are expecting to open in Spring 2027.
The chain has grown rapidly in recent years. According to the Sacramento Bee, in 2022, Chubby Group had raised $28 million to expand and modernize the hot pot and barbecue dining experience. It now counts more than 13 locations across the country, with restaurants in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Chicago, New York, and Atlanta, among others.
